List of countries with overseas military bases

This is a list of all the countries that possess overseas military bases.
A large system of foreign military bases was established by the Soviet Union and the United States during the Cold War. At the end of the Cold War, Russia reduced its network of foreign military bases, but through several rounds of Base Realignment and Closure, the U.S. increased its numbers.〔(Независимая газета. В.
